Festiniog Railway Wagons are available from my Shapeways Shop. They are fully detailed, including underframes. Coupling/Buffer Units are not included in FRB series wagons, nor are axleboxes. FRC series includes coupling and buffer units printed as one piece with the wagon, but do not include axleboxes. In some cases additional parts will also be required to complete the wagon, the split being by material. For example, slab wagons only contain the Ironwork portion, the wooden portions are separate because the normal bodywork material does not well represent wood and is best printed separately in a material that does.

The axleboxes are fitted with a plug and socket design and secured by pins which mimic the square headed nuts on studs of the real thing. These can be replaced by 14BA stud and nuts to give a hex headed finish of later wagons which have been worked on. Couplings are generally retained by a single 14BA or 16BA screw through the tail and wagon spine. All wagons have been designed for use with Slaters Festiniog Railway wheelsets and their matching bearings.

The photos above show the construction of various Slate Wagons. As you can see there is nothing much to it! Bearings are pressed into axleboxes, axleboxes plug into the wagon underframes and securing pins are glued into them both. Now let's have a look at some of that incredible detail....
